I am not sure, I have told him to check to see if it unsets it self. Once I know perhaps then we will know the route to pursue.

also, the *.xlb file can also be deleted. (both with Excel closed).

Personal.xls saves your personal items, macros etc, used by some but I always delete mine if one is created.
If the user is not aware of Personal.xls then rename it or delete it.
If the user uses Personal.xls (which I doubt in this case) then rename it for a test, and replace it after the test.
