Deleting the contents of a cell after the first 7 characters

    Hi

I've been given a sheet which contains cells which have too much information. For example, in a cell I have 8725412_jfirnf.58305.d0ss. All I want is the first 7 numebrs (8725412). Is there a way of effectively cropping or deleting anything after the 1st 7 numbers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Kindest Regards
    Mark

    Hi,

Use a helper column. Say data in Col A enter this in B1 and drag down.

    =LEFT(A1,7)

    Then copy and pastespecial values
