excel link to word table

i am trying to have a worksheet that is linked to a word table.
a program that i use (xactimate) exports data to word fields.
i have created a word table that stores all the data and now i need to have that data transfered to a excel workbook where it will be manipulated.

is there a way to have a excel cell linked to a word table cell ?

i am sorry i did not explain the issue clearly.
i intend on doing exactly the reverse of what that article illustrates.
the original data resides in a word table that need s to be transfered to excel.
