Expanding drop down box

I'm using Excel 2002 at work.

As I understand the drop down box can only be as wide as the host column. However in this workbook I have a 5 sheets for the workdays and 1 for the source information. On one of these sheets the drop box expands wider and to the left.

This is something I would like to have. Is this just a fluke or is there settings for this. I've attach a jpg of this "fluke".
