Save as Tab delimited file errors

I have a spreadsheet that I update frequently which I use to save a couple different uploads to websites. The workbook has 1788 rows in each of 4 worksheets. Three of the worksheets are created by using functions pointing to the master worksheet.

When I try to save as a tab delimited worksheet, I have errors introducted into the tab delimited saved version of the sheet that aren't in the workbook. The error introducted causes the tab delimited worksheet to be formatted differently on some lines of the saved sheet. This can be seen by closing the excel workbook and opening the tab delimited worksheet. Also when trying to upload the tab delimited worksheet into a online database and it blows off with errors in a portion of the file.

Is there some know bug in the save as function for tab delimited files which may cause this to happen? Has anyone else had this same problem?

    Hi,

not a lot of information, a Tab delimited save will lose some formatting, however you have not given details of what changes were encountered.
When you say "blows off with errors in a portion of the file" what exactly happens, and what did you expect to happen?

Can you upload a small sample of the .xls and the tab-delimited file?

    Tab Delimited files

The tab delimited file is made with a save as option. It converts functions within the spreadsheet to specific values in the save process which is exactly what I want.

After the file is saved & exited, upon re-entry to view the saved file the column beyond the column containing the descriptive information wraps to the next line of the spreadsheet into column A.

The file save seems to fail following a column which contains a lengthy description of a product. Although this description doesn't seem to be longer than any other in the spreadsheet. The tabs as well as the value of about 7 columns are placed in the following line of the spreadsheet in column A. Column A contains the following, the 7 columns are shown here with the tabs as extra spaces but in the tab delimited spreadsheet - they show up as outlined boxes:

    " http://sample.domainname.com/zss5214529975.html http://othersite.domainname.com/imag...5214529975.gif ZSS5214529975 Riflescope 918.00 usd Mastercard,Visa,American Express,Discover"

I've traced the error to the column preceding the above incorrect formating error. The column which cause this error preceding the above contains the following:

"The scope that can handle the most demanding long range applications. The answer to target shooting and hunting in long, open spaces. Carl Zeiss Optical in a joint cooperative venture with Pride Fowler Industries, announces the new Ballistic Reticle called the Zeiss Rapid Z. The new Rapid Z Reticle provides accurate, labeled holdover points for most common rounds for both bullet drop and windage compensation. A simple, logical solution! The new Rapid Z Varmint is designed for fast, lightweight bullets in varmint calibers such as .204 Ruger, 220 Swift, 223 Rem, 22-250, etc. Zeiss 5214529975 - FREE SHIPPING!
    "

Apparently there is a CR or CRLF or Tab following the exclaimation point which has caused the error. And I have fixed the problem.

But this leads me to a question, is there any way to make characters such as CR, CRLF, or Tab show up when viewing a column containing a lengthy description such as that above?
