Question Why is Excel File so large?

Please could anybody assist me with the following: I have inherited an excel file that is excessive in size 12mb for what it is. Is there a way of finding our what is making it so large, eg something hiding etc? It does contain two logos but these are no different to any of the other files which are sitting at 2mb?
    Any help gratefully received.

1st hit ctrl end and find out where the sheet ends

there are probably formatting problems, maybe the entire sheet is formatted instead of the used range

highlight all the rows that are not being used and go to edit then clear all

    then save
do the same for the columns

    Hi,
Thankyou for replying. I have followed your instructions but it hasn't changed the size at all?

    Any more ideas?

I would suggest to open a new work book and copy then paste the used ranges in the original workbook to the new workbook and see what happens from there.
