    Question auto filter

Hi -This might be a silly question!

I have a few blank columns in my spreadsheet for the sake of better formatting.

I have also made those columns protected so that data cannot be added to tthose columns.

And now, I am interested in applying filters to the remaining columns. Thanks to excel but auto filter option is not available if the sheet is protected.

So I have unprotected the sheet and added the filters and then protected the sheet again. But the problem is that I need to remove the filter "arrrow" from those blank columns. Is there a work around this???

    1. Basically, I want to filter on all columns except for the blank columns...
    2. I need to make the 'blank' columsn uneditable. (as of now, the blank columns almost look like borders so having arrows in those columsn makes the spreadsheet look very uglyl).

I would appreciate any suggestions !

    Thanks much!

    Hi,

Take a look at this site

    http://www.contextures.com/xlautofilter03.html#Protect

Could you hide the blank columns or set the column with to zero ??
