Automatic vs Manual Calculation

Hi,

If you set to Automatic and Save then future opens should be Automatic.

Do you have a Personal.xls file with a Manual setting ? Search on your harddrive for Personal.xls and, with Excel closed, remove it.

Have you somehow corrupted Excel's default settings, search on your harddrive for *.xlb and, with Excel closed remove it.

Failing that, with Excel closed,
Start, Run, Excel /unregserver
then
Start, Run, Excel /regserver

Let me know how you go.
