COUNTIF Help?!?

Could someone please help with this possibly simple formula...

I want to be able to count cells that have data in them (weather that be text or numbers). So in a range of cells I if there are 10 cells with info and 5 left blank I want it to return the answer of 10. Of course my range is much larger though.

I was trying COUNTIF formulas, but got nowhere.

Try COUNTA, this counts both text and numbers ( it also counts so-called "formula blanks" so it's not good if your "blanks" are generated by formulas). Just

=COUNTA(your_range)
