    INDEX/MATCH Across Workbooks

    Hi all,

I'm trying to implement an INDEX/MATCH formula across two worksheets, but keep getting an #N/A returned. The formula looks like this:

    =INDEX('[Rohma''s tracker SNI.xls]Deployment Plan'!$A$4:$X$31,MATCH(LEFT(B15,5),'[Rohma''s tracker SNI.xls]Deployment Plan'!$C$5:$C$24,FALSE),22)

But to be honest I don't know if one can even use these worksheet functions across worksbooks.

    Any ideas/advice?

    TIA,

    SamuelT

    Hi,

Yes ... both functions can be used across worksheets ..., and opened workbooks ...
    Your formula is correct ...
Just make sure the file name is correct ...

Thanks Carim - turns out the problem was actually in the LEFT(B15,5) part...it should of been LEFT(B15,5)&"*" - now everything is working nicely.

    Cheers,
