Limiting Number of Digits in a Cell

I am trying to limit the number of digits in a cell that was already made and sent to me. For example, I was given the number 39915342189 and need to cut off the last 9 so the number will read 3991534218. I'm stumped as to how to do this without manually deleting each number. Please help! Thanks.

    Hi,

With a helper column you could enter this formula

    =LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-1)

Then drag down. Select helper column range and copy then paste special values
