I don't know why you are mad! Of course there are limits! Perhaps the limits is the virtual memory on your computer?
Excel is a very powerful spreadsheet tool but it can't do everything you can think of. Putting 55 pictures in one spreadsheet is a feat in itself when you think of it; compare it to a few years ago when it was limited to 64Ks.
Perhaps you should use a database or other tools. Good luck.

You are really not doing well with this project.

The Pictures from your previous post would work, but require very careful control over names used, however, that my sample still works shows the idea posted by VBA Noob can work.

Another alternate is that http://www.parry.co.nz/wc.zip shows what can be done with pics such as you are trying to do, and Graham Paramore's site states that he is 'Parrry' on several Excel forums, and whilst he would not give full details as to the code used in the WC he might, if you explain what you are trying to do, be tempted to answer whether regular pictures (scaled by Excel) or Thumbnails (and how to etc) were used.
