saving in excel

Does it also say read-only at the top ??

Hi,

when you Save, does it suggest a new name?

Where are you trying to save, is it to a Read-only device (ie, a CD?)

If, after you Save, you then SaveAs and select a new name, does the new file have your changes?

Do you have the rights to save?

When you select to OverWrite does any error message follow?

When i select overwright- it brings up the normal overright message- "do you want to replace this file???". Ive selected yes- but when i go back into the file it doesnt have my changes- and it also has a 1 at the top of the file- right next to the file name

I guess one just has to luv the majic desktop as a place to save.

Does your desktop have a folder of the same name as the file that you are trying to save?
Did you open the Desktop and test your (supposed) rights to save there?
If you open the desktop and locate the file, is the file a true Filename.xls or a link to some other file?
(you may need to set the options on your Explore to not hide known filetypes)

If you open the desktop and Rightmouse, Properties on the file, is it Read Only, is it the file that you thought it was, is it correctly dated?

Can you copy the file from there to a new folder (say C:\ExcelTest ) and then open, change, and save the file, does it save changes?

Q what is the Filename that you are trying to save?
