    Count if for Date??

    Hi,
i have a problem with the formula Count If, i would like to count in a column the number of date < to another date: for example, when i write 31/12/2006 in J1 would like to count all the dates in the column F before 31/12/2006.

    =COUNTIF('Global Sheet'!F5:F499,"<J1")

i don t know why it does not work!

    Thank you

    Try

    =COUNTIF('Global Sheet'!F5:F499,<"31/12/2006")

    Hi,

Would you mind uploading a zipped copy of your worksheet ...?
cause both formulae work under normal circumstances ...
