    help with Pivot Tables

Can you make a Pivot Table from an Excel list where the field names are in the 1st column instead of the 1st row (ie. data is in the rows, not the columns). I havent found anything in my search. Appreciate the help.

BTW - I am aware you can copy->paste special transpose to change the orientation but thats a 1 time thing. I'm looking for a way to do this automatically.

    Hi,

If it is only a location question ... yes no problem ...
    otherwise ... it depends ...
But what is precisely your objective with the pivot table ?

If you use a sumproduct approach rather than pivot table there is no problem

    =sumproduct((A1:DZ1="criteria")*(B1:BZ1="criteria2"))
