Pedotti or butterfly diagram using excel charts

    Hi,
I am trying to make a pedotti diagram or a butterfly diagram using excel charts, but iam unable to make one. It would be very helpful if somebody can let me know how to make one if it is possible in Excel. If it is not possible, is there a software to make one?

    Thanks,

It is a vector diagram. It's a graph plotted on x and Y axes and includes negative values for X. Values will be recorded by a force plate when a person walks on it. So over a period of time, there will be recordings on the X axis, Y axis and the resultant of force.
I have 3 values, the centre of pressure where the force acts, the magnitude of the resultant of the vector and its direction. I want to plot a graph showing individual vectors. So the final graph is something like a bar diagram but shows direction of the vector ( eg pointing forward or backward) plotted against the centre of pressure on the X axis and magnitude of the resultant in the Y axis.

    Oops,

    I did not know ...
From your description, it sounds possible ...
But the best test is obviously to try ...
And since you obviously already have your data available, give it a try to see the outcome ...

I have tried and failed to get the result I wanted. The closest I got was to get a diagram close to what I want using an XY scatter. But I do not get a bar and the direction of the vector. I plotted the magnitude on the Y axis and te centre of pressure on the X axis. Is there a way to represent the magnitude of the resultant as bar instead of a dot on the XY scatter diagram? also , is it possible to tilt the bar to give it direction?
