    Boken Page Break Lines

I have a 3MB document, that I was just putting the final touches on, and was dragging my horizontal page break solid blue line down about 3,000 lines, when it froze up on line 1,604, and now, I am unabel to even select it! I can move the vertical line, but not the horizontal. I have saved the document and reopened, I have tried to cut and paste to a different worksheet/ workbook, I have checked all of my settings, I have restarted my computer, I have tinkered in the options tab, and I have pulled out many hairs off from my head! In checking many different forums on the net, I have seen people pose this question, but none of the answers have helped. I am thinking I have a corupted page. Any thoughts? Thanks

Never tried to do that, but in view of what you say thoughts that come to mind are
    1: change the paper settings
    2: change the printer
3: change the defaul printer before opening the book
4: if the book's data can be cleared Post the book.

(I presume that you tried 'Clear Print Area')

    Hi

    Did you try
To manually Remove All User set Page Breaks:
    Select all cells (Ctrl+A)
Insert menu --> Reset all Page Breaks

I have tried manually resetting all page breaks. As for the printers and such, I have not tinkered with that, but this issue only seams to be affecting the one single page in the one single document. I am not ahving any problems with any others, and I cannot get it to replicate unless I paste the page somewhere else.

Does it replicate if you paste that to a new book, and is the data on that page disguisable for posting purposes?

    Bryan,

I am trying to clean up the page for a post. It has about 14,000 lines total on that page. When I deleated 10,000 of them, the problem was still happening on line 4,000, but when I tried to deleate the other 3,990, leaving just 10 lines on the page, the problem dissapeared, and then I could move the page break line. I will post it shortly.

In the sheet, the line is moveable by typing A1:L1490 in the Name box etc, and File, Print Area, Set Print Area,

but the line is no longer drag-able

    or

type entry into (say) L1495 then rightmouse 'Reset Print Area'.

Change the view size from 100% (say 75%) - line is restored!

Thank You Bryan for giving me the band aid fix. It definetaly works. I would like to get this bug out, as I hope to share this sheet with others, and they will have varying print sections, and it would be nice for them to just drag the line down, like normal to the end that they want to print. Any thoughts on how to still accomplish this? Does anbody have any ideas why that line decided not to work?

Never having had the problem (but I dont set my print area this way, it's too much work) except on your sheet, no, but perhaps a default View size of (say) 94% or 106% might prevent the happening as well as cure it.

(note, I set the print area by selecting the last required cell, and click-drag to cell A1, then File, Print Area, Set Print area. Reason is that I do not care for Windows total lack of control over drag-down speed, generally it is slow-as for 3,000 lines, othertimes it overshoots by 20,000 lines in the blink of an eye, a feature I find annoying). Print Preview then displays the expected print including headers and footers, preferable (in my opinion) to the page-break preview.
Added note, I drag-select mostly from the bottom up for the same reason, then CTRL/Click to set the Active cell where required. Hopefully there will be better speed control in future Windows editions.

observed that Microsoft list only one 'problem' with the line, but that is not the case here.

    Thanks Again Bryan,

For the detailed lesson. I do, usually, drag from teh bottom up, but I never really used the Set Print Area option much, but I think I will start doing that, to avoid this future problem. Also, I am not getting the same great results by changing the view percentage, but that is faiirly irrelevant, as it is obviously corrupted somehow anyways. I have ASAP Utilities installed and many other macros which, when all combined, may be causing excel to faulter a bit. Anyways, THANKS SO MUCH....again.
