    trouble with time in/out spreadsheet

Hi everyone... i've only used excel for financial statements and have undertaken a project at work to track time in/out for customers.

ideally, the first several columns would be date/name/misc identification info followed by time in, time out columns. with each new row (denoted by a new date), i wanted to enter the customer id info once only, while entering the times, for example:

    Time In-Out
    1200-1300
    1430-1545
    1600-1700
    1800-1945

the problem i'm having is that when i autofilter by name, only the first row comes up along with the first time in/out entries. the original spreadsheet was able to display all the times pertaining to the date/customer even though the info cells were all left blank. how do i associate those times or the blank cells even to the first row of completed cells?

thanks in advance, this problem has been irking me for a bit.

    need more info

you say each new row is a new date. Does that mean each customer has only one in/out time pair per day?

i apologize... i meant that each new row of customer info would denote the new date. i wish there was only one time in/out per day, but most clients check in several times during the day.

what i wanted to avoid is filling each redundant cell like same date/name/info if a client has say, 14 intervals during the day. at the same time, if i autofilter and select a name, i'd like to have all the time periods show up instead of just the time in/out on the same row as the date/customer information.
