    Removing Formula Help

Hi hoping someone can help with a small problem we have.

We use excel to compile quotes for jobs, with qty, cost rate, markup, sub total etc. for ou r column headings.

We have recently had a problem when one of the sales guys sent a doc. with hidden cells and the client un-hid them and found out how much we had marked up. - NOT GOOD!

Just wondering if there is a way that we could perhaps 'save as' the document as client copy retain the sub total figure, i.e. all the numbers in the columns to remain as values instead of =B4*C4 or whatever the cell formula may be then delete out the mark up and cost rate which wont affect any of the values.

Hope i haven't been too confusing.

    Thanks in adavance!

    Charlie

why don't you save as a .pdf?

I did cost estimating for over 15 yrs and would never send a customer a quote in a format he could change. At times customers require you complete their spreadsheet, (you know when they want you to do the data entry on 300 parts!). I would then password protect the cells I typed my quote in. Let them copy & paste back into their original spreadsheet.

Sending customers a quote they can easily change is too risky for me. Even when I submitted their spreadsheet, I would submit a duplicate quote on company letterhead....of course, with all the legal crap in on the reverse!

thanks, having spoke to a few people and doing a little more reading up on the security issues within excel then giving quotes at any level with excel is not a good idea.

Decided PDF is defo the way!
