Renaming a worksheet tab is stuck in a loop. Help!

I tried to rename a worksheet tab and received the following message...


"While renaming a sheet or chart, you entered an invalid name. Try one of the following.."


So thinking I either had a character that I couldn't use or too many, I tried to rename the tab to simply aa

The same dialog box still pops up! It is stuck in a loop and I need the data, so I can't just close it.

Any recommendations from anyone?

Does CTRL/Break kill the action?

or ESC ? etc

Thanks for the help, I've just figured out that I had another workbook open and as soon as I went to it the problem went away. I'm not sure how, but problem solved!
