As soon as I click on a cell after launching Excel even though I've released the mouse button other cells get selected too as I move the mouse. It's as if I havent released the mouse button. Ive checked my mouse in other programs and its working fine. Is there an Excel setting somewhere Ive changed and not realised?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.
sounds like you have anchor cell selected. Try pressing F8 to unanchor

Prolem solved, looks like it was a mouse glitch. I rebooted and all is fine now.
