    Compiling into Unique Records

I have learnt the feature of Unique Records and it has come very handy.

But i have a new problem. I have an exhaustive data of a Customer Report. But unfortunately, a Customer is spelled in different ways each time. For example:-

A Customer named 'Bharat Enterprises' is named differently as,

    Bharat Ent
    Bharat Entp
    Bhart Entpr
    Bharat En
    Bharath Ents

So its impossible to use the Unique Records feature on this.

Is there any way where the most common alphabets of the names are used and aligned to create a Unique Record, like Bharath Entprs?

    Hi MetalUrge,

Why not do a Edit > Find > Replace and get them all the same?

Thanks for your suggestion oldchippy, but i have more than 2000 Unique Names and its a much too heavy job for me to do that, and also i need to replace each entry with the Unique Name.

This is a very strange request but i would really love to see if Excel can help me this time.

select the range that contains names
    press Ctrl+H
    Find what: Bhar*
Replace with: Bharat Ent (or whatever you want)
    press Replace All

do the same for other names.
first few characters of names would be the same, use them in Find what with * at the end.

    Regards.

Oh, that was a fantastic tip. But again i need to do this for all the Customer Names which come upto more than 2000+, i still hope there is a 2-step option whereby i dont mind if all the common names are merged and i get the unique misspelled names in the end.
