    How to copy cell names

I have a worksheet with quite a few named cells. When I copy this worksheet into another workbook, the cell names do not appear. Any suggestions?

    paste special values

Have you tried past special? Try paste special, values. This should keep the name.

I'm wondering if afdan02 tried this before posting? Of course it doesn't work. You cannot 'paste' range names with cell contents in Excel.

I agree. I have tried everything and cannot get the cell names to copy over. Everything else does. I want to avoid re-entering close to 300 cell names.

    Any other suggestions??

    Hi grantj,

See if this wil help you.

I think your defined names are global (WorkBook) instead of local (WorkSheet).
Look at the "Name Manager" add-in at this site.

If i change my defined names to local and copy the worksheet to a new book or to an
existing Book the Defined Names follow.
    Thx

    It works with one exception

Thanks for the advice; I especially like "name manager"!

Cell names will copy once I change them to local (from global) as long as the cell is part of a formula somewhere else. Otherwise cell names will still not copy. Do you get the same result?
