Urgent help needed. Linking between workbooks

    Hi,

need help urgently. I am relatively proficient in excel, in terms of basic formulas and layouts... but have been tasked to do something i hv never heard of.

I have one spread sheet that adds up ave prices and the result will be tabulated into a cell. On the daily basis, this result will change as new entries are made.

    This is simple.

In short, the ave px value will keep changing with new inputs. This price will then be used for pricing in other worksheets, detached from this folder.

Qn is, is there a way for the changes or the new ave price to be reflected in all the other separate spreadsheets.
Ie after changing the px in one spread sheet, how can the changes be reflected in other workbooks totally detached form the original workbook.

This is giving me headaches. Professionals, please advise.

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Jose

    Scratching head

    hi,

thanks for your prompy reply. I apologise for not phrasing my question clearer.

My problem lies with linking between 2 different workbooks, ie 2 different files.

Meaning to say i have a file, ie daily ave prices, which will tabulate the ave px, which i want to use and reflect in other files ie customer A.xls, where changes in file 1 will be reflected in the latter etc...

again they are 2 separate files, thus the problem.

Thanks a million for anyone who knows how to solve this.

    Thanks

    Jose

VBA Noob is correct. You should use Paste Special\Paste Link

    Thanks a million.

thanks for your help. I have tried the link, and it works.

My specific scenario is that I need to take the ave prices for the month, say sept.... and the ave px tabulated will be used in a variety of workbooks like sales contracts etc...

Say I link the sept workbook to the relevant worksheets, come october, I will have to tabulate a new oct average price... Can this new price be than updated, refelcted in the original workbooks that i have previously linked to the sept ave px?
