    Sheet Format Template

Excel 2003: I have a sheet that will loose most of its formatting every time I refresh it. Now that is done intentionally. I have 350 data queries and I have set the Data Range Properties NOT to KEEP its formatting. The reason is that if a query looses its formatting I know that it updated. I have a formula written that watches background color and if the background color does not change it sends me the value of a certain cell. That way I know where to look for problems. This is nice but it creates a problem, I have to reset the formatting and currently that is a very long, long macro that some times does not work so good. What I need to know is if there is a way to save the formatting like a template and just reapply the formatting after I have run refresh. I need to be able to do this and keep the values the same.

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Re: Sheet Format Template

    Hi Ken,

Have you tried saving the file as a .xlt template file, (or .xltx if you use Excel 2007 ->)?

NO but you gave me an idea, I really don't need a template because I don't need the formulas and all that. All I need is the format for the whole sheet, it was a simple answer... just save the sheet under a different name, call it up when I have to reformat the sheet copy the whole sheet move to the unformatted sheet and paste special format only..... simple .. I tried saving as template after you suggested it but I could not see how to apply the template.... usually if you have a template you are using it because you don't have data yet, you want to add the data. In this case I have the data I just need the format Paste Special.

    Thank you
    Ken
