    protect a sort range

if a range should always be sorted as a group, is it possible to specify that
and thus stop a part of the range from being selected and sorted ?

do you mean from a macro and from a specific range...

    if not,
then you must referring to a dynamic range............

You could *pre*select your ranges ahead of time and assign them names,
    something like "srt1", "srt2", etc.
When it comes time to perform the sort, click in the name box and pick the
one you want, which then becomes selected and ready for sorting, excluding
    everything else.
