    importing data from other sheet

hi, i am fairly educated with Excel, but i am having problems with my company's working hours spreadsheets. Basically, we have two spreadsheets (05/06 and 06/07) what i wish to do is to import the data from the 06 part of the 05/06 sheet into the relevant area of the 06/07 sheet to save me the hard job of typing it all out!

I have named the area of which i want in the 05/06 sheet. And then in the 06/07 sheet, i go to import the data, select that i wish to overwrite the cells. Everything goes fine until the data actually copies over. It sucessfully imports BUT it misses the odd value, here and there. And if i manually enter it myself, when the page refreshes, the cell is made empty again.

I do hope this makes sense as i have been working this out for 3 hours now with very little luck! Please please help me =]

    Many thanks in advance.

make a copy sheet of the 0506 spreadsheet using edit, move or copy sheet, and check create a copy. Then add your new columns from April 1st onto it.

thats good, and thankyou for replying =] but it still doesnt update. what i want to accomplish is, when i enter data on the 05/06 in the months during 2006, it automatically updates on the 06/07 sheet, sorry if i havent been clear

i just tried to import the data on to a different sheet in the 06/07 workbook and then tried to do it from there, but it still doesnt work =[ here is a picture of what i mean (the highlighted area should have N/W all the way across but doesnt!)
