    Format cells problem

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me. I don't know how to get around this problem. I was trying to enter a value of 02-30 into a cell in a worksheet and it turned it into a date such as Feb-30. (very frustrated). I have tried the format cells but it changed it into some other large number if i selected general or number from the option under format cells.

Is there a way to tell excel that this is not a cell?

    Thank you very much

    Re: Format cells problem

You can preformat the cell as Text
    or
you can precede your entry with an apostrophe: '02-30
