losing decimal place when inserting numbers

Hi There

I am haveing a weird problem. When i insert a whole number, such as 2145, after hitting enter, the value in the cell becomes 214.5.

If I put in the decimal place, i.e. 2145.0, the number stays as is.

Any ideas what is the cause of this?

Tools|Options|Edit tab|Uncheck Fixed decimal places.
