add a value to and then multiply values of multiple codes in one c

The following is a single column in a reverse billing sheet. Is it possible
for excel to pull each code individualy even if there are several codes in
one cell all seperated by a dash? Even better can it assign a fixed dollar
amount to each code and calculate the total dollar value of that cell? I have
a total of 25 codes and each equates to a fixed dollar value. I am using
Excel 2003. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    CODES
    2A - 1L - 5C - 2K- - - -
    1L - 5C - - - - - -
    5X - 2K - 2K - 2K - - - -
    1A - 2A - 5C - - - - -
    1E - 2A - 1L - - - - -
    5X - 1L - 1E- - - - -
    3C - 1E - - - - - -
    1A - 1E - - - - - -

    Data>Text to columns
Check Delimited and char = -

You will have to type the $ amount corresponding to each code

    help table

Why don't you create a help table, in which you all all of your present and future codes with all the proper prices they stand for? This way you can have VLOOKUP getting all the proper amounts and a SUMIF formula to sum them all together. Depends on the structure of your table, and the columns present.
