    for me!! (Excel 2K).
    Looks interesting though!

I have 2002. What did Excel do when you clicked on the button? Perhaps
it is not built-in to 2000. Maybe one of the other guys can jump in and
shed some light on this. Otto

That sounds like 2000 doesn't have that feature. It sure is neat
    though. Otto

Works fine in Excel 2003. The following macro is associated with the button:

    Sub UseSpeech()
Application.Speech.Speak "Jim, I just found out how to make Excel
    talk."
    End Sub

The feature comes in handy for checking multiple inputs. You can check
your entries as Excel speaks them back to you.

You can also talk to Excel if you have a microphone and install the
speech recognition feature of MS Office.

    Re: Excel can talk

    Bill,

Works with Excel 2002 also. DOn't know about 2000. It sounds like the
early attempts at generated speech back in the 80's. The guy sounds a
    little inebriated!

Using bottom-posting eventually gets confusing when a thread already uses
    top-posting.

As an aside, folks might be interested in this AT&T web site, where you can
get a text-to-speech function. You can select a voice (including gender and
accent), type your text, and it'll send you a wav file of the spoken text.
They use partial phonemes. It sounds a bit more natural than the Windows
    text-to-speech.
