    how do i copy just the data and not the formula in a cell?

    I want to copy just the results of formulas in a series of cells and not the
    formulas. that is i want to copy the values in cells.

    Select the cells, edit copy. Go to the destination choose edit, paste special and choose values

    Holden, copy the cells, right click where you want the results and paste
    special, valves

    Use "Paste Special" instead of "Paste". You'll then have an option to select
    just "Values".

    Instead of Paste, go to the menu & click Edit, Paste Special, and select
    Values. Lots of other interesting options there, too, like Formats, which is
    especially handy sometimes.

    There is an Excel command button (Paste Values) that will do this for you in
    one keystoke. It looks like a clipboard with "12" on it. To put it on your
    toolbar, right click next to your toolbars - Customize - Commands tab - Edit
    category - pull down the Commands to the Paste Values icon. Drag this icon
    up and into your toolbar. Viola.
