Excel will not let me send via email

I have outlook 2003 connected to Exchange 2003.
When I have a spread sheet open, I click on File, Send To then I select Mail
    Recipient.
If I choose to send the page in the body of the email, it tells me that it
can not start the mail client. (I already have it running)
If I tell it to send it as an attachment, it gives me some other error just
as lame as the other error.

    Any ideas??

Outlook IS the default mail program.

Did you ever get your problem solved? I am having a similar problem. When I
go to File-send to - Mail recipient (as attachement). Then It gives me a
    message.
This message has not been sent. I put in the e-mail address where I want to
sent the Excel spreadsheet. Finaly I click sent. But when I check the e-mail
it was not benn sent. I am a new Excel user. Can some one please help.
