    Attaching a 2 item list to a cell / drop-down?

Hi, they say a pic is worth a 1000 works. pls take a look

    http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1...or%20rates.jpg

I want my users to see how the cost of an audio conference depending of different varialbles (# of phones lines, etc). In the picture I want them to choose the country, which - somehow - populates the rate in the next cell "rate per minute" and then I can do the rest of the calculations.

But the main thing is simply connecting a list to a drop-down cell??... etc

    TIA

Use Data Validation, menu Data>Validation, and then select List from the
Allow list and use a formula of =G5:G10 or wherever the list is.

Use VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH from the DV cell into the rates table

    Thanks Bob for your reply!

Just curious, you were not able to see the picture, did you?

Do you have any idea what is the way of showing pictures here?

    Thanks

    Enrique

Probably a Data Validation drop-down and a VLOOKUP formula to return the rate.

See Debra Dalgleish's site for working with a DV dropdown list and VLOOKUP
    formulas.

    Yes I saw the picture.

As for me, a link to a file is fine, you can ignore if you wish.

    Enrique,

As far as I could see, I could only open that file directly, I couldn't
download it. If anyone is going to look at a Excel file (and many won't
regardless), they will want to download the file, and virus check it before
opening. I suggest you look for a free file hosting site, one that allows
you to upload files for a prescribed period, after which they are
    automatically deleted.

Thumbs up About the link for the file

Hi Bob, again thanks for your helpful response.

Well, I just opened an account in streamload.com (recommended in a tv show "callforhelptv.com"), which supposes to be the state of the art in file storage, streaming video, etc at reasonable prices. They have many choices to download stuff, etc. I probably used the one I use for sending streaming video where it opens the player and starts showing the video... it did the same with the file

another method is to use a link to a "host" folder, where the viewer can either download the file or open the file (good for video). So, please let me try the other method with you, maybe I can nail it down right away.

I tested this link and it should open a dialog-box with 2 choices "do you want to Open or Save this file," Please test it and let me know if it works... it would be very helpful

    see ya

    Hi Enrique,

Yeah that works fine. I was able to download the file, and save it. I then
    virus checked it in safety.

When you say reasonable prices, if that means $$, I use www.cjoint.com. As I
suggested earlier, it is time-boxed, but it is free.
