    Group workbooks on Taskbar

I'm running Office 2000 under Windows XP Home and i've lost something
    sort of within Excel.

Previously on my taskbar it would group all my open Excel workbooks and
on the Excel tab would say '3' or however many books i had open - i
could then click on the one i wanted from this taskbar button. But this
has now gone and the only way i can navigate between books is by using
    the 'Window' file command.

The thing i was 'playing with' at the time was protecting
    worksheets/cells.

(This selecting on the taskbar is still working fine for Word, just not
    Excel).

Hope someone can help with my small but very irritating problem. Thanks
    in advance.

(Windows setting) Start-->Settings-->Taskbar. Check "Group similar items..."
    (less likely)
(Excel setting) Tools-->Options-->View. Uncheck Windows in taskbar.
