How do you lock a cell, row, or a colum without password protect the whole spread sheet?

You need to protect the sheet for "locked" cells to be locked. You can, however, protect a sheet without entering a password....just leave it blank.

But if the document is protected other users are not able to insert rows or columns--unless you give them the password or they know to just enter through it. Is there another solution?

I have cells that I want to lock because they are formula's and I don't want other users to be able to change those cells. They also need to be able to insert rows.

    Thanks.

When you protect the sheet, you are presented with a dialog box that allows you to select what tasks you will allow the user to perform without unprotecting the sheet...inserting rows is one of the options available. Simply make sure 'Select Locked Cells' is de-selected and that 'Insert Rows' IS selected.

    Good Luck
