    excel 2003 issue

    Hi all,
I am a newly joined chennai guy for this group. thanks for allowing me
to join. can anyone please solve this problem.
I am working as a tech-support for a software company. I could not find
a solution for this. Please help.

In Excel 2003 when i am opening a file which has 4 worksheets in it, it
is asking for a update link dialog box, where iam routing the same to
the source file. but after that too, it is not updating the fields in
    the excel.
other info is it is asking the same file to link.

Then i tried opening the same file in another machine which has office
2000. it is asking the source file. And it is updating the fields
    correctly.

Can u please help me in this regard.

    Thanks
    Yazh

It sounds like your fixing some links, but not all...

When I can't find links, I'll use Bill Manville's FindLink program:

    Re: excel 2003 issue

I think your problem is that you have calculation turned off.
Tools, options, calculation (tab), you want Automatic to be checked.

If you hit F2 then Enter and individual cell would be calculated.

Calculation automatic or manual applies to all of your open
workbooks and is based on the first workbook to be opened which is
usually your personal.xls workbook. Close each workbook within
Excel, then under Window menu of Excel, unhide your personal.xls
workbook, change the calculation option to automatic, then hide
your personal.xls once more through your Window menu.

If the problem comes up again, you have a macro or an addin that
is changing the value and not changing it back. Some help in
identifying when this has happened -- after the fact, when you
open Excel can be found in

Do the links point at files that exist?

If they don't, you can either convert the formula with the link to a value or
    point at a different workbook.

You did say that you answered yes to the "do you want to update links" prompt,
    right?
