    Expiration Notification in Excel

    Hello All,

    I need some help setting up a notification in Excel. My company wants me to put all of our certifications in their MS Excel spreadsheet and when one employee's cert is about to expire, within a few months, to open a notification or play a sound, something automatic so it's not something we have to monitor constantly. I know you can do this in Calendar functions and even a little easier in a DB but they are specific about using Excel. Any and all help would be extremely appreciated! Thanks.

    How about coloring the cells or fonts when time/date expires. You can do this in conditional formatting

    Format/conditional formatting/set your conditiions

    Hope this helps

    Start in the right direction

    Thanks keithl816,

    That's a start in the right direction. I put the condition "between" and gave the dates but the value doesn't change in format (I set the color to red). Is there something else I'm missing?

    Also if anyone knows of a script or macro that I can run to pop up a notification box or play a sound file, that would be great too. Thanks for the help!

    Ooppsss...sorry keithl816, got that working, I just have it bold and red, I was putting the wrong dates in the cell. Thanks for that, I will start using that at this point until I can get the pop-up or sound file played.

    I found a sound file formula but don't know how to get it working, it is:

    =Alarm (B13,">=1000")

    Are you or anyone familiar with this or how to get it working? Thanks for the conditional formatting also.

    Glad to help on the conditional formatting.

    Hopefully someone can help you with the second part of your question.
