Mix value with text in same cell

Don't know if feasible, but here goes:

I have an entry in a specific cell, say J8. Th entry is some text, say PHOS.

Now in another cell, say B24, I wish to specify the value in J8, PHOS, plus I would like to add some text. Sure, I could spell it out , but is there a way to enter it in cell B24 by inputting...... =J8 plus the required text without getting #VALUE! messages.

It's easy when you know how. Use the & instead of the +

=J8&"the new text"
