workaround for adding hyperlinks to shared workbook?

Is there any way to add hyperlinks to a shared workbook once it's been created? Help files, et al, say no, but I thought I had a workaround: I created the hyperlinks in another workbook, and then copied and pasted them into the shared workbook. That was yesterday--they worked fine. Now today the links are inactive.
