    DDE link formula substitution

    Hello All.

I have a problem with a DDE link formula that I want to substitute part of it with a text value in a cell. This is the formula

    =RSLINX|Area_2_PLC_1!'LHVA_3154TF_C.Auto_Mode,L1,C1'

I'm trying to replace the "Area_2_PLC_1" with a value in cell A1 and "LHVA_3154TF" with a value in Cell A2.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.

    Joe.

Untested, but you can try the '&' to concatenate your formula as such:

    =RSLINX|A1&'A2&_C.Auto_Mode,L1,C 1'

    Good Luck

As I am unfamiliar with the "=RSLINX" function (user defined?) I can't be of anymore help. Sorry.

I do, however, notice that your sample formula uses single quotes. You may want to experiment with moving them around the & and the cell references to see if that meets the syntax requirements.

Study your original syntax and try to duplicate the punctuation in your modified formula. If your cell reference is a number, it may need to be text or vice versa.

    Just some thoughts....

    Good Luck

Just another thought, try using the INDIRECT function to refer to the cell that contains the reference...

    Good Luck
