    cell protection

I'm currently using MSworks that come with XP home.
However I noticed that it does not support cell protection
anymore so I'm planning to buy Excel but figured I'd better
    check first.
Does in fact Excel have cell protection from overtyping your
    formulas?

Yes, but you have to apply that protection. It doesn't
    happen automatically.

    Re: cell protection

Thanks very much. Obviously eliminating such a
needed part of worksheet reduces MS Works
almost to the point of a trial product. I will now
purchase Excel since I work tediously all day
sometimes pounding in information to cells, I don't
want to accidentally pound over my formula cell
and not realize it till several iterations later.
