I am running WinXP and Excel2000

Via Tools | Options , one can set many program parameters. But there are default settings that are not so easily found. Two examples that really bug me:
1. how can I tell Excel that I want WordWrap "on" unless I select some range and click it off, i.e., I want ON to be the default
2. how can I tell Excel that I want Vertical Text Alignment to be "Center" unless I select some range and make it different, i.e., I want CENTER to be the default

I did write a macro that sets most things the way I want and add it to the Workbook_Open proc, but that is a bandaid.
