Any idea how i can display a cell as a fraction (i.e "24/37") but also be able to use the cell in a formula, and so that if the fraction is "37/37", it doesn't auto-change to "1" but remains showing as "37/37" ?
many thanks![]()

Excel supports a fractional format for numbers. Hilite the cell, left click and go to format. In the numbers tab click on fractions. You can also customize the format if one of the standard fractions is not quite what you want.
UPDATE: whoops, does not quite solve your problem, i.e., retaining the fractional form.
Hi,
Select the cells you want to format.
On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab.
To display numbers as fractions, click Fraction in the Category list, and then click the type of fraction you want to use.
However 37/37 will show as 1 and you are stuck with that. You are fortunate as 37 is, I think, a prime. 3/36 would show as 1/12, and you can't change that either!
