summing a filtered list

I am filtering a list so that I only see a subset of the list. I want to insert a function that sums only the items that I can see i.e. does not add in the items that have been filtered out. I am using the autofilter. Anybody know how to do this. Thanks.

Use the SUBTOTAL function...

=SUBTOTAL(9,A1:A100)

See the help menu for other ways of using this function.
