Changing text color - not in an empty cell

Is there a simple method of changing the colour of text in all the cells in a worksheet, but only make the change if the cell is not empty?

I have a file that contains text in various cells. I'd like to change the colour of that text.

I'd like empty cells to be unaffected by the colour change.

After changing the text colour, I'd like to be able to type into the "empty cells" and heve the text colour there be different from the colour that was set for the "filled cells".

Could be in a select range, or the whole sheet, or workbook.

    Sort of -

"If Cell contains text, change text color to Blue".

    Any suggestions?

    A two step solution:

Use the Edit>Goto>Special feature. First pass, select "Constants". This will highlight all 'non-formula' cells with data. Set your font color. Second pass, select "Formulas" and set your font color.

Now all cells with either data or formulas will be in your chosen font color. All other cells (blanks) remain unchanged.

    Good Luck

    Thanks Bruce,

That worked for 90% of the content. There were a few cells that weren't selected (not sure why), but it was fairly easy and quick to do a visual check and change those missing cells.

Thanks. This work much better than the conditional formatting I was working with.

Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the feedback.

Conditional formatting would have been a nightmare for this endeavor.

    Well, the conditional formatting seemed sensible at first;

if cell empty, set colour = red

if cell not empty set colour = blue.

Of course, this only worked until I entered text into an "empty cell". It then became a not empty cell, and the colour changed! ;-)

Talk about not thinking things through! Thanks again.
