How does the term 'pivot' apply to Excel's Pivot tables and Pivot.

How does the term 'pivot' apply to Excel's Pivot tables and Pivot Charts

Think of the table with the top left corner being say A3. You can drag
fields from COLUMN fields to ROW fields and vice versa, effectively Pivoting
the data around that top left corner.
