    Slow excel operations

    Dear Public,

I've recently been having trouble with excel 2003 (XP OS). Excel is
running very very very slowly, to the point where most operations (be
it switching tabs, moving page breaks, opening files, simple looking
and doing things), result in a "program not responding" sign - however,
if you let it run, the operation completes in about 2-10 minutes.

    I've tried:
    1) clearing my temp files
    2) yes my office is completely updated
    3) i've also tried porting the affected files onto a new clean file by
pasting special values and formats only -- however this still results
in slow operation for a number of actions but it has resolved the slow
    opening of files.

All these have not solved my problem.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've read most of the posts here but can't
seem to find the right solution.

    Sincerely,
    Melvin Soh

Do you have another printer assigned than what you used to. The currently
assigned printer can have an effect, especially if the pagebreaks are
    visible.

    Tom,

It seems you're right, i set it to microsoft office document image
writer and the problem appears to have disappeared.

Please verify my findings if you have the time.

    Thank you
