Display text depending on cell value

What is the simplest way to display a set of text depending on the value that is selected from a drop down list?

Scenario: The drop down list is populated with names. Each name is linked to a specific set of information. Depending on the name that is selected, the set of information that is linked to that name will appear on the worksheet. All other information linked to the other unselected names will not be visible.

I would use a combination of vlookup function and data validation.

Data validation will give you the list and vlookup will return the pertenent information.
