    DAYS360, dates - very confused

Hi as part of a more complicated problem I have tried to do the basic example of DAYS360 from Excel help

    (A1)Dates
    (A2)1/30/2008
    (A3)2/1/2008
    Formula Description (Result) =DAYS360(A2,A3)
Number of days between the two dates above, based on a 360-day year (1)

So the answer should be 1. When I do this the answer comes as #VALUE!. I tried cell format to change the date format but it doesn't seem to work. If I then manually change the dates to European format 30/01/2008 and 01/02/2008, it works and I get the value 1 as my answer. Anyone know what the problem is? Any help appreciated

From reading other solutions in particular the one below I changed my regional settings to US now Excel works with these dates and DAYS360 produces the right answer. The problem is I need to leave my regional settings on UK as other people will be accessing the document with those settings. Any ideas?

    Hi Dany,

Just make sure that you are entering the date according to the system date
format. Select the ËœRegional and Language option (if you are using windows
XP, in 98 it is “Regional Settings) from the control panel and check the
Short date format. If it is not in the same format which you are using in the
excel sheet (I mean “dd-mm-yy or “mm-dd-yy), change it.

I hope it will solve your problem.

    Regards,

    Premod
